Talisker Players is a unique independent ensemble of instrumentalists dedicated to working with singers. Members of the group are professional musicians with a wide variety of experience. Many of us play with ensembles like the Canadian Opera Company and National Ballet of Canada orchestras, Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra, the Hamilton Philharmonic, the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestra, and the Toronto Symphony. Most are also active chamber musicians. Several of us also play in non-classical styles, including jazz, rock, pop, and klezmer.

Since 1995, we have been accompanying choirs large and small, amateur and professional, in Toronto and throughout southern Ontario. We are known for our verve and polish in music ranging from the Renaissance to the 21st century, and also for our flexibility and collaborative spirit.  For more information, click here.

For nearly 20 years, we presented an acclaimed series of vocal chamber music concerts at Trinity St. Paul's Centre in Toronto, blending words and music to create evenings that were dramatic, thought-provoking and enchanting. Many of these programmes have been performed elsewhere, and are still in circulation (see Programme Library). Among the most popular are the five programmes of our American Songbook series, which explore the music of the great popular songwriters of the early and mid twentieth century.

During the years of our concert series, we developed an unusual and imaginative outreach project which took our music into the shelters and drop-in centres of Toronto's inner city, for audiences that are overlooked by most arts organizations. Although the series is over, we continue to operate our outreach project with the collaboration of other Toronto ensembles, notably the Windermere String Quartet.  For more information, click here.
